Treatment of infertility
Intrauterine insemination
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is one of the methods of assisted reproductive technology (ART) used to treat infertility.
This technique is most similar to the natural process of conception.
At I.D.Clinic, a reproductive specialist injects purified and concentrated sperm from a partner or donor on the day of ovulation into the uterine cavity. The procedure can be performed in a natural cycle or in a cycle with minimal hormonal stimulation of ovulation.
Intrauterine insemination can also be performed by single women who wish to experience the joy of motherhood. Donor sperm is also used in cases where the man has severe hereditary diseases or the absence of sperm in the ejaculate.
A mandatory condition for the procedure is patency of both fallopian tubes and high quality sperm. p>
What method of intrauterine insemination do we use at I.D.Clinic:
- In laboratory conditions, the embryologist selects and cleans the best spermatozoa based on morphological characteristics.
- Sperm processed in this way is introduced into the uterine cavity of a woman on the day of ovulation with the help of an intrauterine catheter. This helps sperm to overcome the barrier of the cervix.
At the I.D.Clinic medical center, the intrauterine insemination procedure is performed twice in one attempt.
The probability of pregnancy with this method is 25-30% (the probability of pregnancy after normal sexual intercourse is approximately the same).
